Record & Design – Boiling Liquids

I am kicking off my blog with a little idea called “Record & Design”. The challenge consists of recording a few sounds (even just one is ok) and, from each individual recording, design one or more variations. Rules are simple: I am only allowed to use the sounds that I have recorded on that day.

Session of today consists of a couple of liquid boiling sounds that I had originally intended to record for a project at work.

First sound is a boiling kettle, then turned into a massive and rumbly lava sound. The second sample is a boiling soup (delicious mint and pea soup I had for lunch) that I mangled into a dark and eerie ambience as well as an interesting rasping noise that reminds me of rattling glass.

Happy listening! (Use headphones or a good pair of speakers if you can)

Really interesting challenge idea! I especially like the lava noise.

I’m liking this idea a lot! Very inspiring and some cool sounds there! Will have to give it a try!
