Foxes Free Sound Library

This small collection of sounds was originally recorded in April 2014. I had recently moved to Wandsworth Town, a suburban area of South London to start my career in sound design. I also just so happened to live in an area populated by a few rival groups of foxes. At the time I had no idea how incredibly frightening and “alien” foxes could sound like.

Armed with my little (now dead) Tascam DR-05 handheld recorder, I collected a bunch of sounds, over a few nights, from my bedroom window.

It “only” took me about 3 years to finally decide to make use of them and release a small collection of the best sounds I had captured.

Why are these sounds free?

Thanks for asking. Three main reasons:

  1. I could only pull out a small selection of samples from my raw recordings, around 3 minutes and 20 seconds of material.
  2. Quality is, well, not great 🙂 The content recorded had to be heavily cleaned up from the loud nocturnal background noise of the city, as well as from the internal noise floor of the cheap recorder I used.
  3. Because why not. The sound community is very generous when it comes to sharing sound effects, this is a small way for me to give back to the community.

Enough with talking, you are here to listen to sounds, right?
